·          Columbus sought God’s providential leading toward America.

·          He was seeking to please God by obeying  His Holy Word to share the Gospel.

·          "He believed that He was fulfilling Psalm 19:4, that the words of the Lord would go out to the uttermost parts of the world. He believed that he was the bearer of Christ to do this."

Columbus Day also commemorates the arrival on these shores of more than 5 million Italians

a century ago. Today, their children and grandchildren constitute the nation s fifth largest

ethnic group, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Columbus was a Christian hero and explorer who pursued Gods will to find the Americas that would become home of the free and the brave. The Americas have become a land where Christianity could prosper. In modern America, the Columbus Day observance is void of its Christian heritage because of the suppression of the Gospel message as early as in public school with children. Christopher Columbus’ manuscripts, The Book of Prophecies, was published for the world to understand the true heart for God of this brave man. Cristoforo Colombo, from Genoa, Italy, is celebrated by the Italian community as one of their own but ethnic pride should be secondary to his position in Christ. We should celebrate and be thankful for Cristoforo’s strong example of faith in Gods leading, his resolve to obey God and to go forth without fear.
